Ordinance No. 65-07 CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON ORDINANCE No. 65 - AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHART"BR OF THE CITY OF TIGARD, AEGON BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO BE N[I-M-99RED "SECTION 9A" OF CHAPTER III, ESTABLISHING THE POSITION OF QTY MANAGER, AUTHORIZING THE CITY COUNCIL TO FIX THE COMPENSATION AND PRESCRIBE THE DUTIES OF THE CITY MANAGER, CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION AT WHICH THE PROPOSED CHARTERR, AMENDMENT SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF TIGARD, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY., THE CITY OF TIGARD ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: �L .. -1i io AAA r Ara is hereby_. adopted. approved Seccan L: atacac o - -, -•-, =--- and authorized, an amendment to the Charter of the City of Tigard, Oregon, by adding a new section thereto to be numbered Section 9A of Chapter III, reading as follows: "Section 9A. CITY MANAGER. The City Council shall appoint an administrative officer for the City, for an indefinite term, and fix his compensationThe position to be occupied by such administrative officer shall be known as "City Manager". He shall be appointed solely on the basis of his executive and administrative quali- fications and need not be a resident of the City or of the State of Oregon prior to his appointment; however, aft_r the date of his appointment he may reside elsewhere than the City only by authority of resolution of the City Council The City Council may remove the incumbent from office at any time. `The incumbent in the office of City Manager shall be the chief administrative officer of the City and be responsible to the City Council for proper administration of all affairs of the City placed in his charge by the City Council. The City Council shall by ordinance set forth the duties, responsibilities and authority of the City Manager, which may be changed only by ordinance from time to time. Section 2: A special election is hereby fixed and called to be held on the 25 day of �M�a��, 1965 in theCouncil Room of the Tigard City Hall for Me purpose of submitting to the legal voters the question of approving or rejecting the foregoing charter amendment, and said election on said question shall be held in ac- cordance with the provisions of the Charter of the City of Tigard and the applicable election laws of the State of Orego,..
