The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC),
2004 edition; the Oregon Fire Code (OFC), 2004 edition and NFPA 72 Alarm Code. The
submitted plans are approved subject to the following.
General requirements
Inspector shall verify that installation is complete and system is in compliance with
NFPA 72 and contractor shall provide a record of completion at time of inspection.
This system is a partial installation at this time. The third floor is complete with smoke
detectors, manual and strobe devices and pull stations. First and second floor have a
hom /strobe in the elevator lobby and an annunciator at the front exit. The building has
an existing alarm and smoke detection system.
1. Connections to the light and power service shall be on a dedicated branch circuit. The
circuit and connections shall be mechanically protected. The circuit disconnecting means
shall have a red marking, shall be accessible only to authorized personnel, and shall be
identified as "FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT". Section 4.4.1.4.2.2 NFPA 72.
Manual Devices
2. Manual Fire Alarm activation devices shall be mounted a minimum of 42 inches and a
maximum of 48 inches measured vertically from the floor to the activating handle or
lever of the device. Section 907.4.2 OFC.
Visual Devices (Section 1109.14 OSSC)
I ! 3. Visual signal appliances shall be provided in the building in each of the following areas:
• Restrooms and any other general use area (e.g., meeting rooms)
• Hallways
• Lobbies
• Common use areas.

• If alarm systems are provided, then both audible and visual alarms shall be provided.
4. Visual alarms shall be located not less than 80 inches and not more than 96 inches above
the floor level. When a low ceiling exists, the visual alarm shall be mounted at least 6
inches below the ceiling.
5. Visual alarms shall have a minimum candela rating of 75 candelas.
6. No place in a room shall be more than 50 feet from a visual signal.
7. No place in a common corridors or hallways shall be more than 50 feet from a visual
signal.
8. In large rooms exceeding 100 feet across and without obstructions 6 feet or more above
the floor, devices may be placed around the perimeter spaced at a maximum of 100 feet
apart.
Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be
maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors
throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC
Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new
buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting
the property.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
