LINCOLN TOWER 1
Fire & Life Safety testing was conducted on January 18, 2007 in Lincoln Tower 1 under the
following conditions:
• Building temperature = 70
• Outside temperature = 34 °F
• Sunny and cold
• Humidity approximately 37
Final fan data set points are as follows:
• Stairwell #1 Pressurization:
o The VFD speed must be set to 60hz
o The pressure to atmosphere in stairwell #1 when the fan running = +0.26 "wg when
the door at the bottom of the stairs is closed.
• Stairwell #2 Pressurization:
o The VFD must be set to 60hz
o The pressure to atmosphere in Stairwell #2 when the fan is running = +0.35 "wg
when the door at the bottom of the stairs is closed.
• Stairwell #3 Pressurization:
o The VFD must be set to 49hz
o The pressure to atmosphere in Stairwell #3 when the fan running = +0.28 "wg when
the door at the bottom of the stairs is closed.
• Stairwell #4 Pressurization:
o The VFD speed must be set to 52hz
o The pressure to atmosphere in stairwell #4 when the fan running = +0.26 "wg when
the door at the bottom of the stairs is closed.
The stairwell to corridor differential pressures were set as close as possible to the 0.25" to
0.35 "wg. The final pressures listed below are based upon a balance that considered maximum door
pulls of 30Ibs, minimum differential pressure from the stairwell to the corridor of 0.05 "wg and the
suggested differential between stairwells and corridor of 0.25" to 0.35 "wg
In addition to the stairwell shaft spring actuated isolation damper, and a barometric dampers are
installed in each stairwell shaft relief opening. When the system is alarmed, the isolation damper
opens and the first barometric damper opens to relieve a minimum of 2500cfm. As the shaft
pressure at the top increases to the point that the differential across the top floor stairwell to the
corridor reaches approximately 0.35 "wg, the second barometric damper begins to relieve excess
shaft pressure. The barometric dampers were adjusted to maintain maximum shaft pressure while
not exceeding the 30Ib door pull specification.

1. No access to stairwells from within the ground floor lobby.
2. Ground level door pull measurements were not taken because doors push outward.
