Re: Obstructed electrical panel
Dear Ms Shaw:
We discussed at some previous occasions the location of the UPS receptacle box and shelves in
the mail room of Lincoln Tower 10220 Greenburg Road.
According to the 2005 National Electrical Code Article 110 -26 and has been in the Code for
decades all electrical equipment shall have a minimum working clearance as follows: A
minimum of no less than 36" wide or the width of the equipment whichever is greater, 36" in
front of the equipment and up to 7 1/2 feet high from the floor level. That has been in the Code for
decades.
The items shown above certainly encroach in a great measure into this clear space required. By
that they represent a life and safety hazard to any emergency personnel or any electrical worker
needing access to the panels and the items should be moved immediately.
Your cooperation in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Herb Stabenow
Electrical inspector
