Refer to the documents frequently during booth construction to avoid delays and damaged components. 1. Identify and check each part as shown on the Assembly Drawing and Parts List. We recommend the parts be laid out in the order they will be needed during assembly. 2. Determine the exact location for the booth. Be sure to follow applicable site drawings and local fire codes. Mark the outline of the booth on the floor to provide a reference during assembly. 3. Usually starting at the plenum end of the booth and working toward the booth entry is the best approach. Be sure to follow the detailed Assembly Instructions closely. Note: To provide easiest access, install the exhaust fan(s) before beginning the working depth. 4. Assemble ductwork as required per the site drawing. (For general requirements see the Code Requirements section of this document.) 5. All sheet metal connections are made with the 5/16" x 3/4" truss head bolts supplied. Tighten all bolts and nuts after the booth is lined up and all walls are plumb and square. 6. Secure the floor angles to the concrete with Ramset shots or concrete anchors on 24 inch centers. . . • • 7. Install the tempered glass windows and lights fixtures. Note that the gasket naterial • must be installed prior to installing the tempered glass windows. (Se the Liglitr • • : • • a • Fixture section.) • • • •••• • 8. Install the filters and holding grids into the filter frames. To secure the fiftds 4oth thy,,,, • . • • left and right prongs of the each grid must be slipped behind the filter tt'li'langec.. • • • • (See Filters section.) • • • • 9. Install the manometers (See Manometer section) and the solenoid valve (Me Solenoid• • • • • section). •••• • • • • Always follow assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, safety regulations, local and • national codes when assembling any spray booth structure. 2 -1 .r Bleeker Bros., Inc FINAL CHECK LIST It is the responsibility of the installer and customer to check the following items prior to placing the spray booth in operation. ❑ Check the fan direction of rotation. The proper orientation of the fan is clearly marked on the fan housing. ❑ Check the direction of rotation of the motor. ❑ Check that all electrical controls are installed and working properly. This includes the door interlocks, lighting controls, solenoid valves, and pressure or air flow switches if required. a Check that all filters have been installed and are sealing properly in the filter frames. Any gaps where air can flow through will also allow paint to pass through. ❑ Check for missing bolts, nuts, or openings. ❑ All seams on an enclosed spray booth should be caulked to provide an air tight enclosure. Apply the caulking sparingly (use small beads) so that no large bumps or beads appear. Note: caulking is not supplied with open face booths since there is no requirement for the booth to be airtight. • • • • •• ❑ Double check that the spray booth is grounded per applicable electrical cgdc4.,: • • •• .•.. • • • ❑ Check for broken glass, parts, or missing items. •• • • ••••• • • • • • •• • • • • • • • • ❑ Set up a written maintenance schedule and ensure that the schedule is•rrit:ained • . , This is a critical safety issue required to reduce risk of accidents and fire lfizar'd. • • • • • • • • • • •••• • 1 • • 1 2 -2 4 . Coating materials are atomized without compressed air or hydraulic pressure. The No. 2 uses only the electrostatic force generated by the power supply to atomize the paint. Overspray is non- existent. Due to its high transfer efficiency, the No. 2 Process Handgun enables spray painting in many instances where it would be otherwise impossible: on -site refinishing of - t furniture and the painting of large and small products r where overspray cannot be tolerated. GROUNDING THE RANSBURG® NO. 2 HAND GUN SYSTEM Proper grounding between work piece, the high voltage power supply and the surrounding • building is essential for correct operation of the Ransburg® No. 2 Process hand gun system. OWARNING Failure to observe the following rules for grounding may result in inferior finishes, equipment failures, static shocks to the operator and FIRE HAZARD. 1. Connect the power supply to the building electrical ground. The three prong grounding plug supplied with the power supply is acceptable if the wall receptacle has a proper connec- tion to the ground pin. NOTE: Ransburg® suggests that each operating crew be supplied with a three -wire circuit analyzer which may be used to quickly check the ground continuity of the building electrical system. These analyzers are available from many suppliers such as Sears, Hubbell or Woodhead at a cost of no more than a few dollars. al 1 1 • 0 PIPlan • • , Otli 1 "eve A 0 • 1 . 0 :0 : FINIS' 1 j • • rivolui S . r I / ' • r..-.. ,, •i •••• , 0 • \ 1 Technical / Service Assistance 800/ 233 -3366 RANSBURG® is a trademark registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office by Ransburg Corporation. If a 3 -prong to 2 -prong adapter is used or if the ground in the AC receptacle is not connected, then a separate ground wire . must be run to a metal building member (electrical conduit, water line, steel building support, etc.). The power supply is equipped with a grounding cable for this purpose. NOTE: Because the building electrical system may not always be properly grounded, using the alternate building ground connection is a good practice in all situations. 3. Ground the work piece to a building (structural) ground. Secure wire from the work piece to the.building ground with a spring clip or a grounding clamp. NQTE: A magnet is acceptable if the magnet is kept free of paint accumulation. Remember: Most paints are insulators! 4. Ground any supporting conveyance for the power supply. If the power supply is on a cart for.. portability,-ground the 'cart to . the power supply and to building ground. 5. Ground the operator to the power supply. The operator will be grounded by grasping the metal handle of the No. 2 Process hand gun with his bare hand. The hand gun is grounded to the power supply through the metal braid in the high voltage cable. CAUTION: This cable should be inspected frequently for voltage leaks and checked for elec- trical continuity of both the conductive wire and the grounding braid. a. Paint accumulation on the handle must not be allowed. b. Gloves cannot be worn unless an alternate operator ground is used. c. The gun handle MUST NOT be covered. Tape is an insulator! • Operation of any high voltage electrostatic system requires an awareness of the phenomenon of INDUCTIVE CHARGING. Specifically, this phenomenon occurs whenever an ungrounded ob- ject (i.e., a metal can on a plastic tile floor) is within the electrostatic field generated by an elec- trode- charged to a high voltage. The ungrounded object will try to acquire a charge equal in voltage • 'to that of the electrode. Therefore, • THE FIRST RULE OF ELECTROSTATIC SAFETY IS: • • • • • Ground all conductive objects within the near field (10 ft. radius) of any charged electr:• • THE SECOND RULE IS: ' • • • • •••al •• • • • Excepting those being properly utilized in the application system, KEEP ALE'FKNAAMABLE. material outside of the far field (20 ft. radius) of any charged electrode. • • • • ' • • All use of high voltage. systems MUST be in compliance with the National Electric GQde.
