'IIWI Re: Elite Care SW Grant St Water re -use sytem Bill Reed gave me a copy of the flow plan for the storm water re -use system that he proposes to use in the Elite Care facility at SW Grant. The system has a number of components, identified in the flow chart, to achieve the goals of limiting the amount of public water and electric power required to operate the facility. These goals are consistent with an overall aim of achieving platinum LEED status for the development. The system being proposed is innovative but similar systems are becoming more common with the increasing interest in energy efficiency and water conservation in building design. The installation of all components should meet the requirements of the Uniform Plumbing Code with City inspection at normal junctures. The cross connection safeguards, backflow preventers in the rainwater re -use system and the air gap in the heat pump system, should be reviewed and approved by the City water department. I have not been involved in the design of this system, it is an area more generally covered under mechanical systems. I have reviewed the layout and the concept and components indicated appear to be consistent with other systems I have encountered. I PR1 . - I 'l ' m.0,`, ,4y, 1
