Should there be more information required just let me know and I will do my best to supply it to you I believe that this switch is more than capable of doing what needs to be done since it is truly an industrial grade switch designed for much harsher conditions than we will subject it to Our plan is to have it activate a strobe type light that will be visible not only at the entrance to the subject building but also very visible from the entry to our main church office. Level swtiches are used in almost every processing and manufacturing facility around the world. Various mechanical devices (such as floats and displacers) are used in such applications as spillage prevention, dry pump indication, and batch level measure- ment. These types of level switches require high maintenance and process shut- downs due to sticky, viscous fluids, gas bubbles or turbulence. The Liquiphant M is not affected by turbulence, bubbles, foam, vibration, build -up, high viscosity, or bulk solids build -up. The Liquiphant M uses frequency shift technology for limit detection. The forks vibrate at their resonant frequency. This frequency changes when covered or uncovered by the liquid material, causing a change in the frequency which activates a limit switch. The outlets to the leach lines will be closed and sealed in a permanent manner, 2. The holding tank will have a "pump now" alarm that is monitored at a normally occupied location (reception or main business office), and 3. Reports will be submitted to the Building Department every six months, which note the occurrence of alarms and the invoices for the pumping of the tank at each alarm. 4. The holding (septic) tank will be de- commissioned and inspected when the building is demolished under permit. Please contact me with the technical data for the alarm you intend to install on the tank before actually doing the work. One of your two questions is easy to answer and the other is not quite as straight forward. We have already spoken to a supplier and have an alarm system available to us. We had already planned to put something like this in place as part of the temporary solution. It is difficult for us to determine exactly how many months it will be before we demolish the structure. If we had all the funds in hand to complete all three phases of the expansion project our hope would be that we could be taking down the structure by the end of this coming summer. That would be the perfect situation but of course life or our plans are rarely perfect. When the Lord provides the funding for all three phases we would have to be realistic and say that the shortest number of months would probably be something like twenty four and a more realistic time frame may be thirty six months. As I mentioned earlier this building is used on a limited basis only. The schedule is as follows: Sunday there are 60 -70 people in the building for one hour. Wednesday evening there are 20 -30 people in the building for two hours. Thursday evening there are 20 -30 people in the building for two hours. In an additional effort to insure that the situation is not exposing anyone to any sort of a health risk we would be willing to send your reports every six months as to the number of times the alarm has gone off and proof (invoices) that we have in fact pumped the tank as needed. Obviously we intend to be very attentive to the situation since we and our congregation are the ones that would be dealing with any issues that could arise from not properly monitoring the tank. I pumped the tank on October 20 of this year and would be glad to pull the access lid and measure the level that has accumulated in the past two months if that would be helpful information. We really appreciate your willingness to consider our request. We recognize that it is somewhat irregular but it also will save us a substantial sum of money (minimum of $10,000) that would be spent on a building that will be removed in phase three of our project. We have received our conditional use permit from the city and are working on putting together our package for site development. Phase #1 of our project is building a parking lot on our property part of which will go in an area where we presently have a septic drain field. We will of course at some point decommission or do away with the field & tank but this would be in what we refer to as Phase #3 where the building (youth center) will be demolished to capture the remainder of the desired parking. What we would like to do because it would save us a great deal of money in the big picture is to cap off the existing septic tank and do away with the drain field. We would then schedule to pump the tank at regular intervals as needed in order to keep the two restrooms in that building in working order. The building is only used on Sundays & one night a week so the facilities are used on a very limited basis. The need to use the tank as basically a holding tank & pump it when needed would not be a permanent situation. It would only until we were ready to start phase #3 and demo the old youth center. The holding (septic) tank will be de- commissioned and inspected when the building is demolished under permit. A few weeks back we did get word from Matt at the city who was our Associate Planner in charge of our project that you had mentioned to him that you were going to approve our request with certain conditions which would include an alarm system as well as some reporting to the city.
