Because of the nature of the majority of the work involved having to do with excavation and re- grading of existing earthwork and landscaping, the Contractor wants to emphasize that the work needs to be done before the normal steady rainy season begins, typically around October - November. If it becomes necessary to do the work during the wet weather months there will be additional costs. PERMITS 1 SPECIAL INSPECTIONS a. This proposal includes an Allowance of $800.00 for the cost to obtain a building permit and any other fees associated with the building permit, such as: the cost for having blueprints drawn if required; additional structural engineering drawings or details if required; soils tests if required; etc. b. This proposal includes an Allowance of $1,000.00 for the cost for any special inspections or testing that may need to be done on the project. B. CRACK METERS a. Furnish and install (20) Avongard crack monitors at cracks in the foundation walls per the manufacturers recommendations. Install inside the crawispace where possible. C. PEDESTAL FOOTINGS a. Replace (15) pedestal footings, in the crawispace, that are improperly embedded. b. Excavate at each footing location to a minimum of three feet (3') below existing ground surface so that the new footing rests on competent bearing surface. Remove the existing concrete footing and the excess soil from the crawlspace and dispose of offsite. c. Furnish and install, at each footing location, a new 18" diameter x 12" thick concrete footing. d. Replace the existing 4x4 support post, at each footing location, with a new 4x4 support post the proper length from the top of the new footing to the bottom of the beam it's supporting. Remove and dispose of the existing 4x4 post. e. Provide temporary shoring at each post / footing location while the excavation is being done and the new footing and post is being installed. f. Replace the visqueen ground cover where removed for excavation and footing installation. D. DRAIN PIPES AND GRADING a. Remove all debris from the gutters and downspouts and thoroughly clean them out. Replace the damaged gutter on the garages at the west end of the building (48' approx.). Match the existing gutter as close as possible. b. Provide camera inspection of the rain drain piping at (12) downspout locations. A DVD of the inspection will be given to the owner along with an overhead drawing of the system. Trouble spots will be noted. Video inspection may need to start and stop due to debris and/or breaks in a line. c. On the east side of the building, re -grade the landscape to direct the surface water away from the foundation. Locate ditches, swales and /or surface drains within 10' of the building. Replace all landscaping disturbed during the re- grading project. d. On the west side of the building, re -grade the landscape to direct the surface water away from the foundation. Locate ditches, swales and /or surface drains within 10' of the building. Replace all landscaping disturbed during the re- grading project. e. On the north side of the building, below the deck at the exterior side of the foundation wall, install a French drain. Connect the drain pipe from the French drain to the existing rain drain pipes at the bottom of the foundation wall. f. Remove and re- install sections of the deck as required to access the exterior side of the north foundation wall to excavate for and install the French drain. E. GENERAL a. The contractor will be allowed to use the owner's power and water while working on the project. b. The contractor will provide a portable toilet facility for the workers during the project. c.
