Subject: Walnut Crossing Lots 5 and 8 Tree!Pfotection
• .
On June 2, I visited the site with Phillip Pahlisch to inspect tree protection fence installation for Lots
5 and 8. My comments are as follows:
Lot 5
® Protection fencing for tree #9057 at the front of the lot is adequate and as shown on the
attached.drawing. The orange construction fence should be replaced with metal fencing prior
to construction. The tree crown will probably need to be•raised about 12 feet for clearance.
o The fence for trees #9053 and #9054 on the east side of the lot is installed as shown on the
site plan, but extends partially beneath the dripline. In my opinion the resulting protection
area will be adequate for the trees, but the arborist will need to be on site during foundation
construction. Alternative construction techniques, such as a grade beam foundation, will need
to be evaluated at that time.

Lot 8
• Orange protection fencing for trees #9016 and #9017 should be replaced with metal fencing
prior to construction: The fence is in the location shown on the site plan and will provide
adequate protection for the trees.
o The house on Lot 8 will be constructed partially within the dripline of tree #9008 at the .east
(rear) of the lot. Protection area will be adequate since there is no construction impact on
three quadrants of the tree. Nevertheless, the arborist should be omsite during foundation
construction close to the tree to help minimize impacts in the fourth quadrant.
o The protection area for the tree could be increased if the house is moved forward (west) on
the lot. This is presently restricted by the 20 -foot setback.
In summary, the fences are located consistent with the site plans, and in my opinion will provide
adequate protection for the trees.
