I am sorry to say that the permit is both too old to reinstate and not intended to be built per the original plans. By "too old ", I mean that there have been changes in the code in the last couple of years and any structure like you are proposing in your letter will have to be reviewed per the current edition of the code. It also sounds like your intended structure is very different than the original plans would reflect. New drawings and possibly design calculations would be required in any event. You may use your original plans as a starting point and flesh them out to reflect your current plans for the addition. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "phase I" and if it indicates there will be a "phase II ". If you are planning to build a structure and THEN add to it, you would be better off to include all that on the re- submitted plans, as it would probably require two separate permits for the two "phases ". The $337.61 fees for the first permit are not refundable and cannot be transferred to a new permit. Upon pulling the original permit I had intended to add to our catering building roof to create additional space that would be covered, however unsecured (not lockable). After revisiting with my contractor, I was advised that I probably consider adding another roll up garage door to have a secured non heated environment. As the planning discussion progressed, I learned an immediate family member (my mother in law) had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. She since has passed away. The above details outline my inability to actually start or complete the project. For these reasons I ask your consideration in allowing me to move forward with my approved permit with changes to be addressed upon re issuing my permit. I look forward to your response.
