The existing tower is a 100' tapered monopole located in Washington County (Tigard), OR. The original monopole manufacturer is Newmark Infrastructure Solutions, Grand Prairie, TX. The analysis request was by Cingular Wireless. The monopole program used in the analysis was written by Guymast, Inc., and is one of the most widely accepted programs in the communications industry. The wind speed used for this analysis was 80 mph (fastest mile) and 69 mph with 1/2" solid radial ice. Our analysis shows that this pole has a wind rating of 100 mph (fastest mile) and 87 mph plus 1/2" radial ice when loaded. This exceeds the TIA/EIA -222 -F 1996 minimum basic wind speed requirements for Washington County of 80 mph and 69 mph plus ''A" radial ice. Therefore the pole has sufficient capacity to carry both the existing and proposed antenna loads at the TM/ETA -222 -F 1996 minimum recommended basic wind speed of 80 mph, no ice and at the Sprint specified design wind speed of 100 mph, no ice. The monopole, for the purpose of this analysis, is considered to be in good condition with no defects. Section sizes used in the analysis were obtained from monopole drawings provided 15y Newmark Infastructure Solutions. and from an earlier structural analysis report prepared by Paul J Ford and Company. The monopole sections are 65 ksi steel. All proposed transmission lines are considered to be installed outside the monopole. 3 Global Signal Services LLC 3020886 September 22, 2005 RESULTS The existing 100' tapered monopole located in Washington County (Tigard), OR was analyzed with an 80 mph wind speed (fastest mile) and a 69 mph wind speed with 1/2" solid radial ice per the EIA -222 -F 1996 standard. The monopole was found to be structurally acceptable with the proposed antenna loading. The monopole foundation was also reviewed and was found to be structurally acceptable with the proposed antenna loading. The allowable stresses have been increased by 1/3 for wind loading conditions. CONCLUSION The existing 100' tapered monopole located in Washington County (Tigard), OR was analyzed with an 80 mph wind speed (fastest mile) and a 69 mph wind speed with 1/2" solid radial ice per the EIA -222 -F 1996 standard. No modifications are required with the proposed antenna loading. If any other changes are proposed, another structural analysis should be performed to assure the monopole is in compliance with the current codes and standards.
