Subject: RE: Prova Shower Drain Certification - Don Hook
Mr. Don Hook,
Would you please contact the Building Official, Mr. Mark Vandomelen as soon as possible, by e -mail at: markv@tigard-
or.gov and request approval for you shower walls and floor under the 2011 OPSC Chapter 3, Section 301.2, "Alternate
Materials and Methods of Construction Equivalency" and Section 301.1.1 "Approvals ".
I have forwarded the shower assembly documentation the you have sent me to Mark and he will review the
documentation and respond back to you accordingly regarding approval for installation.
Marks phone number is, 503 -718 -2448. I have informed Mark that I have inspected the shower stall rough

the Plumbing Code that will have to be done to complete the rough -in inspection,
I will be out of the office until September 13 so you will have to direct any questions to Mark that you may have until
then.
Sincerely,
George Heimos

1.0 INTRODUCTION
At the request of Loxcreen Flooring, Bodycote Testing Group was retained to evaluate the
compressive resistance and density of a polystyrene shower pan product
The material was received as four wedge- shaped sections with a notched surface. Upon receipt,
the sample was assigned the following Bodycote Sample No.:

Polystyrene Shower Pan 09 06 - M0085
2.0 PROCEDURE
The material was tested in accordance with the following standard test methods. The results of
testing were compared to the requirements provided by the client; as specified in Bodycote
Testing Group proposal 09 -006 -1840.

Standard Test Method for E
Apparent Density of Rigid Cellular Plastics ASTM D1622
The measured density of the material should be considered the core density of the polystyrene
material, and not the overall bulk density of the product.
In accordance with ASTM D1621, compressive resistance must be performed on a sample with
parallel surfaces. The wedge shaped material was trimmed flat to facilitate testing. Testing was
performed without the notched surface.

3.0 RESULTS
The results of testing are presented in Table 1 below. In all cases, SI units are the primary units
of measure, although results are also presented in US Customary Units to match the client's
requirements.
