Apparently high -rack storage had been installed without permit and was in use. It appears that they submitted a permit app with plans and calculations on 6/6/08 and we wrote them a plan review letter on 6/12/08 but have had no response or further action. Your report called for reinspection in 30 days. Have you had an opportunity to follow up with them? Have they, perhaps, come into Fire Code compliance by reducing the height of the stored products? And, if so, have they perhaps reduced the height of the racks themselves to 8 ft or less so as to not require permits from us? Occupant Load: NA The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC) 2007 edition; and the Oregon Fire Code (OFC) 2007 Edition. Please provide the following prior to issuance. 1) Please provide compliance with OFC Chapter 23 and NFPA13 for high piled storage. Fire Extinguishers: Provide 2 -A rated fire extinguishers as required per table 906.3 (1) of OFC the extinguisher shall be located so that no usable space has a distance greater than 75 feet to the extinguishers. OFC 906.3 Clearance: The clearance between the sprinkler deflector and the top of storage shall be 18 in. or greater. NFPA 13 8.5.6.1 Loads Posted: The racks shall display in one or more conspicuous locations a permanent plaque not less than 50 square inches in area, showing the maximum permissible unit load in clear legible print. OSSC 1603 Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
