4. GeoPacific Engineering, Inc., Foundation Investigation, Baylor Court Office Building,
Tigard, Oregon, dated May 23, 2001.
GeoPacific Engineering, Inc. conducted the original subsurface investigation (Reference 4 above),
the Keystone wall and Haines road overlay improvements design recommendations, and recently
completed on -call testing and construction observation services for the above - referenced
commercial office building during the development construction portion of the project. The
purpose of this report is to provide a summary of the information generated from our services and
to make general conclusions regarding the suitability of the of the earthwork, wall construction,
and paving work performed at the stie.
GeoPacific Engineering Inc. designed the MSE Keystone wall located on the east (upper) and
west (lower) sides of the site . Based on our site observations, we conclude that the retaining
walls were generally constructed as designed; with the following exceptions:
Based on our site observations during construction, after adequately the subgrade the minimal
structural fills beneath the building, parking area base course and for the MSE retaining wall were
compacted to a minimum of 95 percent of the standard Proctor maximum dry density.
Density testing of the leveling course asphalt coucrete and the final overlay indicated
compaction results of at least 91 percent of Rice density on the leveling course and 92 percent
of Rice density for the final overlay (see attached Summary of Field Asphaltic Concrete Density
Tests).
