The ledger should be at least 8 feet long if it isn't supporting the gravity loads of the deck. An existing
ledger could be used if the sds screws are added. In fact, the ledger could be a 2x8 instead of a 2x10.

How long is the new 2x10 ledger?
There is already a ledger board in place so could that one be used if we added the sds screws?
