I am writing this letter in an appeal to the city c unci
consideration on my building permit application. A 9 e*i.

Our company started out here in Tigard as a one man ohop in 1959.
i * We have grown to our present size and are now bulging at the seats.
.4 Oar present facility was built in 1964 and. we believe alrchitectural,ly

a and esthetesthetically very pleasing to the eye and general area.
In December 1972 we decided we had to add two more rooms.. After
•:3 ; "fig to several contractors, the most economical and feasible way was
to put a small addition over the existing office area with matching a
construction. We had our preliminary plan drawn and presented it to Mr.
Steve Telford to see if there would be any major problems. At that time,
he assured us there would be none. Ieith this in mind, we had the final .
plans drawn and called for bids.
IIn January we applied for o ur permit and we have been pp and down
with yes and no decisions, "stop", "go", and "maybe" ever since. Daring
all this time the cost of the job has risen $200.00 from the original bid.
One of i the major j or stumbling blocks has been the insistence that we
build a corn rete well 22 feet high between one property and the adjoining
property. To do this would create an architectural nightmare and make•
our office took like an industrial parks •
We have been willing to install a two hour fire wall (four thicknesses
of 5/8" fire rock) but now the building department says there is no way
we can even remodel the building, although the state fire martial has OK'd
the plans.
We would greatly appreciate any help or consideration the council
would give us in this matter.

at that time the plans were received by the building dept.
for plan checking. Upon checking the plans, the following

his plans had been disapproved and the reason for disapproval
(see attached. letter).
. '. I would like to add that the Uniform Building Code does allow
