FROM: Ed Carlisle, P.E. SUBJECT: Alberta Rider Elementary School — Plumbing Plan Review We are in receipt of your November 24, 2004 fax memo regarding the plumbing plan review for the above referenced project. Following are our responses to those items. 1. The plumbing contactor will apply for plumbing permit. R &W is not involved in this selection process; this requirement should be addressed to the entity that submitted the drawings for review. 2. By this memo we are requesting the use of a 1% slope for interior plumbing drainage system as allowed in OSPSC Section 708.0. This slope is required to meet the invert elevations for connection points for this site. Detailed calculation can be provided if needed. 3. Backwater valve has been added to the area drain. Revised plans will be supplied. 4. The gate valve was shown on the drawings based on symbol used and legend. We have added "gate valve" to the text on the detail for clarity. Revised plans will be supplied. 5. Isometric drawings will be provided. However, since we have been in discussions with Brian Blaloch and John Williams and the final decision on our verbal then written requests to waive this requirement was only given at approximately 10 :00 a.m. on the date of this memo some time will be needed to complete this. We can complete isometric •Dec „17 04 12:05p RaW Engineering, Inc. 503- 292 -1422 p.2 12/17/04 Memorandum by Fax 2 drawings by end of business Thursday December 23, 2004 at the earliest. 6. Pipe materials are in compliance with OSPSC as specified in section 15060 parts 2.01 through 2.05, 2.07, 2.08. Please let us know if you would like to have the revised plans showing the gate valve and back water valve prior to the final revised plans with the isometric drawings included. We would be happy to provide these plans in any format or timing required to expedite review. Please feel free to contact this office with any further questions. Sandburg Street Tigard OR 97223 Dear Steve: A critical situation has been brought to my attention today that has the potential to compromise the continued construction at Alberta Rider Elementary School. I was notified that plans for the private sewer line have never been submitted to Clean Water Services (CWS) for the Alberta Rider project. There are two crucial services that CWS must conduct. One, they must review and approve the plans to issue permits for the sewer lateral connection from the school to the public sewer in Summit Ridge. They must also review and approve plans for the storm and sewer lines to be constructed in the public streets (132nd and Batterson Street). These plans are currently under review by CWS. As you recognize, the city has cooperated to the fullest extent to allow your contractor to go forward with certain aspects of construction on the site. Extensive site work, footings and retaining walls have been allowed to proceed ahead of normal permit sequence. We are coming to a point that the public facilities plans must be completed. This requires submission of all construction and permanent easements and right of way dedications. In addition, without the proper permits from CWS, we cannot issue plumbing permits or continue to allow further construction activities beyond what has been permitted above (ie foundations, etc.). • We want to see the project continue forward and not stop. We continue to meet weekly and I encourage your participation to ensure good communications continue throughout the project. I will continue to provide notes from the meetings to keep you informed of the progress being made. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, James N.P.
