FOUNDATION EXCAVATION REVIEW
LOT 5 — MILESBROOK
CITY OF TIGARD, OREGON
On February 26, 2008, GeoPacific Engineer, Jim Imbrie, visited the above - mentioned Lot 5 to review
foundation excavation subgrade bearing conditions. Partial formwork was in place and the area had
been covered by a thin layer of gravel. We understand that the proposed residence is a two -story
single - family home with slab -on -grade garage floor. The excavation probed medium stiff for two feet
depth and stiff below. The subgrade soil consisted of medium stiff to stiff native silt where exposed.
The observed subgrade was adequate for spread foundation support to a maximum allowable bearing
pressure of 1,500 psf. Settlements should be limited to less than 1 inch total and 3 /a inch differential. If
desired, expected settlements can be limited further by assuming a 1,000 psf allowable bearing
pressure and making the footings about 2 feet wide. No deck footing, patio, or other appurtenant
structure subgrades were observed.
Our work scope pertains to a geotechnical engineer's foundation excavation review only and the
conditions existing and exposed at the time of our site visit. No warranty is herein expressed or
implied. If you have any questions, please call.
Sincerely,
GeoPacific Engineering, Inc.
