Dear. Mr. Cooper:
The purpose of this letter is to identify our requirements regarding the installation of a
liquid oxygen tank adjacent to the southwest corner of this facility. While we agree the
fire code is somewhat vague and perhaps a bit over - restrictive for the installation of this
size container, some restrictions are valid.
Adequate security must be provided to prevent tampering of the cylinder. Either provide
security for the control valve on the cylinder or provide a chain link enclosure with a
locked gate. Our concern is that of unauthorized use or malicious tampering by outsiders.
Liquid oxygen is a cryogenic fluid quite hazardous to those who are unfamiliar with its
physical properties.
"No Smoking" signs must be placed on the enclosure and directly thereto prohibiting
smoking within 25 feet from the enclosure. Employee smoking in the restricted vicinity
of the enclosure will not be tolerated.
Personnel from the Respiratory Therapy Department who will be dispensing product from
this vessel must be adequately trained in the safe use and handling of this product. It
would be wise to document this training.

We trust this will clear the way for this proposal insofar as our involvement is concerned.
