Hi Gary,
The proposed alternate is acceptable to The City for as a retrofit solution to protect the corner of the second story
cantilever section that projects approximately four inches into the 3' fire separation distance, protection would not be
required at 3' from the property line. Projections beyond the exterior walls (such as eaves) are still not allowed to
project more than 12" into the area where openings are prohibited per section R301.1. In this case, openings are
prohibited at less than 3' from the property line per table R302.1. The proposed method would be acceptable to protect
the eave that would be allowed to project to within 2' of the property line.
Thank you,
Mark VanDomelen

Mark, I am not able to locate a final approval for this application, 1 know Cheryl Caines responded with her department
approval not long ago, can you send me something we can use as documentation and we'll move forward with the
retrofit and final inspections?
Thank you.
