Re: CWS Durham AB2 Modifications — Footing Structural Observation
Dear Lynne :
The following structural observation report has been generated based on our site visit made on
3/9/07 to review the forming and reinforcing for the new baffle wall footings. At the time of our
visit the Contractor had completed construction of the forms and reinforcing for one of the four
footings and was continuing work to fmish the other three.
Based on our observations we found the subject items to be in substantial compliance with the
contract documents with the exception of the following items:
In the areas where the new footings are adjacent to the existing walkway piers, the adjacent
reinforcing was resting against the existing concrete pier and did not obtain minimum required
clearances. We asked the Contractor to cut/adjust reinforcing to obtain clearance.
Per the request of the Owner, the Contractor had installed a small blockout in the base of. each
footing to allow for wash -down. The Contractor appears to have made a reasonable field
revision to allow for the blockouts.
Bond breaker had not yet been applied to the smooth dowels anchored to the existing floor slab.
We assume this will be completed prior to concrete installation but this should be verified.

Dear Lynne:
The following structural observation report has been generated based on our site visit made on
3/21/07 to review the forming and reinforcing for the new baffle walls. At the time of our visit
the Contractor had completed construction of the reinforcing and one side of the form work for
one of the four walls and was continuing work a second. It is our understanding that they intend
to pour two of the walls on 3/22/07 and two of the walls at a later date.
Based on our observations we found the subject items to be in substantial compliance with the
contract documents.
