The existing unit is suspended from the underside of the roof of the existing building. It will be removed as part of this project. The replacement unit will be located on the roof of the building in approximately the same location as the removed unit. The existing building was constructed circa 1990 with contract documents prepared bny CWC -HDR of Edmonds WA. Plans are dated May 1989. The roof consists of 8" thick by 48" wide hollow core planks (Corefloor) with 2" of regular weight concrete topping. The planks were designed and supplied by Morse Bros. of Harrisburg OR. Structural calculations and shop drawings were prepared by George Laszlo, PE in November 1989. Copies of all of he above documents were loaned by the Owner for our use: Attached on sheets 4 through 7 are four of Mr. Laszlo's calculations on which design loads are indicated. To connect to the existing HVAC system a roof opening for the duct is to be provided. As shown on the next sheet, the duct opening size will be 20" x 26 ". The plank to be penetrated spans 8'0" and is interrupted by an existing skylight. The unit to be installed is a Reznor MU401. Information provided by the manufacture lists its total weight, including curb and outside air hood, as 1,275 pounds. Its plan size is 7'4" x 4'0" and the unit is about 3'9" high including REVIEW COMPLETE Weight of Unit on Roof Structure PERMIT # e Z © < Weight of Unit, Wrt = 1,275 pounds /7 Plan Area of Unit, A = 7.334 = 29.3 t1 DATE L BY Uniform weight applied to roof, w = Wr /A lAiL ENGINEERS Slab is designed for applied loads of Live Load of 50 psf+ Mechanical Load of 20 psf. Portland, Oregon Opening in Plank As seen below and on the Laszlo calculations, a plank designed for a span of 16'0" has four prestressing strands. The proposed opening will be centered on the plank and will disconnect two of the four strands. The subject plank spans half of the design span. The ratio of be bending moments is [8 = 0.25. Therefore, it is clear that the two remaining strands are adequate to support the slab. (This material was reviewed and the conclusion confirmed by telephone on this date by Morse Bros.
