705.5 Horizontal continuity. Fire walls shall be continuous from exterior wall to exterior wall and shall extend at least 18 inches
(457 mm) beyond the exterior surface of exterior walls. "See Code book for exceptions"
705.6 Vertical continuity. Fire walls shall extend from the foundation to a termination point at least 30 inches (762 mm) above
both adjacent roofs. "See Code book for exceptions"

06.4 Continuity of fire barrier walls. Fire barrier walls shall extend from the top of the floor /ceiling assembly below to
the underside of the floor or roof slab or deck above and shall be securely attached thereto. These walls shall be continuous
through concealed spaces such as the space above a suspended ceiling.
❑ Shaft Enclosures — 707 - Rated 1 2 3 4 Openings protected Y N
707.5 Continuity. Shaft enclosure walls shall extend from the top of the floor /ceiling assembly below to the underside of the
floor or roof slab or deck above and shall be securely attached thereto. These walls shall be continuous through concealed °spaces :
such as the space above a suspended ceiling. The supporting construction shall be protected to afford the required fireesistance -
rating of the element supported. Hollow vertical spaces within the shaft enclosure construction wall shall be fire- stoppedi +ery
floor level.
❑ Fire Partitions - 708 - Rated 1 2 3 4 Openings protected Y N
708.4 Continuity. Fire partitions shall extend from the top of the floor assembly below to the undersideaf the floor
or roof slab or deck above or to the fire- resistance-rated floor /ceiling or roof/ceiling assembly above, ,s `hall be:)
securely attached thereto. If the partitions are not continuous to the deck, and where constructed of cont stible
construction, the space between the ceiling and the deck above shall be fire- blocked or draft - stopped in accordance
with Sections 717.2.1 and 717.3.1 at the partition line. 'No

❑ Smoke Barriers — 709 - Rated 1 2 3 4 Openings protected. Y N
709.4 Continuity. Smoke barriers shall form an effective membrane continuous from outside wall to outside wall and from floor
slab to floor or roof deck above, including continuity through concealed spaces, "such as thtise•found above suspended ceilings, and
interstitial structural and mechanical spaces. The supporting construction shall be pit tefted to afford the required fire- resistance
rating of the wall or floor supported in buildings of other than Type IIB, III&or VB nsfruction.
❑ Smoke Partition — 710 - Rated 1 2 3 4 Openings protected Y oN
710.4 Continuity. Smoke partitions shall extend from the floor underside of the floor or roof deck above or to the
underside of the ceiling above where the ceiling membrane isconstnrcted to limit the transfer of smoke.

❑ Horizontal Assemblies — 711 - Rated 1 2 3 4 "< Opnings' protected Y N
711.4 Continuity. Assemblies shall be continuous without openings, penetrations or joints except as permitted by this section and
Sections 707.2, 712.4 and 713. Skylights and other penetrations through a fire resistance roof deck are permitted to be
unprotected, provided that the structural integrity of the fire`= resistance-rated roof construction is maintained.
❑ Membrane Penetrations — 712 5
❑ Through Penetrations — 712 •
❑ Fire Resistive Joint System — 713
❑ Fire Resistive Rating of Structural Members — 714
❑ Opening Protective — 715
❑ Ducts & Air Transfer Openings — 716 - 716.4 Access and identification. Fire and smoke dampers shall be provided
with an approved means of access, large enough to permit inspection and maintenance of the damper and its operating parts.
.Access points shall be permanently identified on the exterior by a label having letters not less than 0.5inch (12.7 mm) in height
reading: SMOKE DAMPER or FIRE DAMPER.
