Garages 3,500 square feet, apartments 8,500 square feet, BFF = 3,000 gpm. Apartment 5,000 `. 12,000 = 71% of BA Garages 3,500 - 12,000 = 29% of BA 71 % (BA) X 3,000 gpm (BFF) X 1.0 (occ fac) = 2,130 gpm 29% (BA) X 3,000 gpm (BFF) X 1.1 (occ fac) = 959 gpm Total Required Fire Flow 3087 gpm The required fire flow of this standard is greater than 3,000 gpm, therefore, either area separation walls (see Section 22 of Fire Prevention Ordinance) complying with UBC Section 505(0 would need to be installed or one of the automatic sprinkler alternates or central station supervision alarm system as found in Section 25E (1), (2), and (3) of The Fire Prevention Ordinance. One may also upgrade the type of construction to comply. The same applications are true if required fire flow is greater than available fire flow. 1. If single occupancy hazard, place answer on Line 8. If multiple occupancy hazard, skip to line 6b. When multiple occupancy hazards are housed within a single fire flow area, the building fire flow shall be factored out to the ratios of floor areas housing various occupancies. Each portion of the building fire flow for a given occupancy hazard shall be multiplied by the occupancy factor and then added together to produce a required fire flow. 2. This information is available from the fire district unless the building is in a newly developed area or new fire mains are to be installed. If the latter is the case, please provide engineered calculations showing estimated flows for the area. - - - - • . 11 ‘ ' . 7 V -41: - " • ; 5 • • • , , • 4 •%,' • Delta Fire Inc 14795 SW 72 Portland, Oregori...97224 (503) 620-4020 Fea:.'003) 620-1058 FAX TRANSMISSION COVER SH EET Date: September 2, 1997 To: Nicol i Engineering - Jim Andrews Fax: 684-3636 • Subject: Flow Test-Fire hydrant Sender: CJ Carlile YOU SIIOULI.)
