Gentlemen:
This is a Fire and Life Safety Plan Review and is based on
the 1991 editions of the Uniform Fire Code (UFC) and those
sections of the Uniform Building Code (UBC) and Uniform
Mechanical Code (UMC) specifically referencing the fire
department, and other local ordinances and regulations.
Plans for the above noted building cannot be approved at
this time. Please revise the following and resubmit for
review and approval.
1. Hydrants were not noted on submitted plans. Hydrants
shall be located so that no portion of the building is
greater than 250 feet from a hydrant measured around
the outside of the building and along access roadways.
If building is provided with automatic sprinkler
protection, then the hydrant may be extended to as
much as 500 feet provided the Fire Chief believes
adequate protection is being provided measured in the
same method as above. Fire hydrant will be required
within 70 feet of a fire department connection if the
building is provided with automatic sprinklers.
2. This building exceeds the allowable 3,000 gpm fire
flow for Type V -N Ordinary Hazard Group 3 (Spec
Warehouse) application. Building either needs to be
divided with area separation wall in accordance with
Uniform Building Code, upgraded type of construction
or provided with automatic sprinkler protection.

the premise is not visible from the right -of -way due
to distance or obstacles, the driveway(s) servicing
the premise shall be identified by a sign at the
driveway(s) and where the driveway(s) enters the
public right -of -way. The sign(s) shall be white
reflective numbers four (4) inches in height mounted
on green background. Sign(s) shall be on the right
side of the driveway four (4) feet to six (6) feet
high within twenty five (25) feet of the right -of -way
and any intersection of the driveway leading to the
premises.
4. Not less than one (1) approved fire extinguisher(s)
with a rating of not less than ( *) shall be provided
for each ( * *) square foot of floor area or fraction
