Dear Mr. Stock,
Linhart Petersen Powers Association (LP has completed a review of the documents we've
received for the above captioned project. These documents were reviewed only for their
conformance to the Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC), 1993 edition and the Oregon
Mechanical Specialty Code (OMSC), 1993 edition.
Documents reviewed include the. following:
1. Plan sheets A0.01, A1.01, A1.02, A2.01, A2.02, A2 :03, A2.11, A2.12, A2.13, A2.14, A3.01,
A3.02, M -1 & M -2.
2. Sixty - four (64) 8 1/2" x 11" pages of MSDS, 8 pages of Energy Code compliance forms and
19 pages of process narrative, sketches and mechanical cut sheets.
General
1. Plans are required to be stamped and wet ink signed by a State of Oregon registered .
professional Architect or Engineer.
2. Sheets M -1 and M-2 shall be drawn to scale per OSSC section 302 (d):
Structural
1. Submit structural calculations to verify compliance with OSSC section 2336 and Table 23-P
for the full- height which separates the office areas from the manufacturing area.
2. Also provide Structural calculations to verify compliance with lateral design requirements of
OSSC 2336 for the equipment mezzanines, equipment,.tanks, HVAC equipment and etc. in .
accordance with the Horizontal Force Factor, Cp listed in Table 23 -P.
3. Provide details and calculations for the cooling tower including the footing/foundation design.

Nonstructural
1. Please submit a request for "Modifications ", per OSSC section 106, to the building official for
the over -area condition. Your request should be submitted on forms provided by the building
official and must identify mitigating factors to be considered.
2. The West yard adjacent to lot 3 building must be maintained as a yard to justify the area
calculations that have been provided. Specific reference is made to a FAX memo dated
March 22, 1996 to Jim Kenworthy from Stock & Associates. To assure that this yard is
maintained, an appropriately worded deed restriction is needed for lot 1, 2 and 3. Deed
restriction language is to be approved by the building official prior to filing.
3. The property line shown as passing through the building and which forms the North boundary
of Lot 1, South boundary of Lot 2, must be deleted in a manner that legally combines Lot 1
and Lot 2. OSSC Table 5 -A.
4. The maximum quantity of LP -Gas allowed in one storage location shall not exceed 735 lb
(334 kg) water capacity [nominal 3001b (136 kg) LP-Gas]. if additional storage locations are •
required on the same floor within the same building, they shall be separated by a minimum of
300 ft (91 m). Storage beyond these limitations shall be outside or in a special building
5. If the existing mezzanine is enclosed and not used, provide access as required for attics via a
minimum 22" x 30" access opening. OSSC. 3205 (a) Also, ventilation is required for this
space per 3205 (c).
6. For clarification, plans should be revised to reflect the removal of stairs to the existing
mezzanine.
7. Provide the design number for each of the fire rated wall types referencing an approved listing
authority such as U.L. or the Gypsum Design Manual.
8. Doors 178A, 155A, 154A, 125A, 125B and 122A must be 1 1/2 rated assemblies. OSSC 503
(c) 3. Glazing in these doors shall comply with OSSC section 4306 (g).
9. Identi the location and storage arrangement for all hazardous material.
10. Several plan sheets show an exit door in the South wall approximately 30' from the Southwest
corner of the building. Other plan sheets do not show this door. Please revise to clarify the
intent.
11. Plans are not clear regarding exterior landings at doors. Landings are required per OSSC
3304 (j).
12. Revise plans to show handrails and guardrails per OSSC 1712 and 3306 . (i).
13. Provide stairway details per OSSC 3306.
14. Additional exit signage may be required in order to clearly indicate the direction of travel.
Exit signs should be visible from any point in the building. OSSC section 3314 (a).
15. Provide information regarding the provision of accessibility features for persons with
disabilities. Specifically, provide .information to show compliance with OSSC section 3112
(a).
16. Door 125C shall be provided with an exit sign per OSSC 3314.
17. The overall diagonal distance of, lunch room 125, is approximately 80'. Therefore, exit doors
shall be separated by a minimum of 40'. Door 125E and 125D are not a sufficient distance

apart and are the only doors from this area which swung in the direction: of exit travel. Please
revise to . comply with exit separation requirements. OSSC Table 33 -A and section 3303 (d).
18. All exit doors serving lunch room 125, including 125D, 125C, 122E (if provided with
hardware) and 128A must be provided with panic hardware per OSSC section 3317 (d).
19. Glazinglocated in 1 -hour rated corridor walls shall be labeled 3/4 hour assemblies. OSSC
section.3305 (h)
20. Provide a section detail through the rated corridor for review.
21. The duct penetration of corridor 128; .shown on Sheet M -1, shall be protected by combination
fire /smoke dampers. OSSC section 4306 (j) 5:
22. Corridors shall not be used to convey air to or from rooms when corridors are required to be
1 -hour rated. OMSC section 1002 (a) The affect of this requirement is that conditioned
space within these corridors must include both supply and return air:
23. Each HVAC unit providing more than 2,000 cubic feet of air per minute shall be provided •
with an ' automatic shutoff activated by smoke detectors. OMSC 1009 (a) and (b).
24: Please complete the Mechanical permit application andideniti.fy all of the equipment and
appropriate fees. Re- submit the application and pay the appropriate fees.
25.' Please identify the location of a means of access to roof mounted mechanical equipment per
OMSC section 710 (h).
26. Provide Electrical connections for mechanical :equipment per OMSC section 509.
27. Heating equipment shall be provided, with automatic controls to shut off the fuel supply in the
event of pilot or ignition failure. Depending on the location of equipment, remote controls
may be required: OMSC section 506. •
Please provide a complete response to the above noted items. Responses such as "by :Others" do ,
