Correspondence LAW /CRANDALL A DIVISION OF LAW ENGINEERING AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES. INC. April 4, 1997 Mr. Jim Funk City of Tigard 13125 SW Hall Boulevard id Tigard, Oregon 97223 Subject: Site Drai I • _ • ' : n Adjustment Ryder Truck Rental 14750 SW 72nd Street Tigard, Oregon w /Crandall Project No. 70144 - 6-0385 Dear Mr. Funk: After a discussion with Mr. Phil Hickman, Project Manager for Hal's Construction, and Mr. Ron Schlenker, Project Manager for Ryder Truck Company, and due to the existing site grading, we would like to eliminate the 3 foot concrete swale at the above referenced site. The contractor agreed to maintain a slope of at least 1.5% away from the building and towards the catch basins. Since the owner wants to eliminate the concrete swale and the contractor agreed to provide a smooth transition between the slopes leading to each catch basin, Law /Crandall is satisfied with the elimination of the swale. Concrete swales have the advantage of eliminating pavement distress by providing a more rigid area at the bottom of the curves and channeling the water to the catch basins. However, the contractor proposes to provide a smooth transition to the catch basins, and the owner favors the elimination of the concrete swale due to past maintenance experience. Based on these points we request the City of Tigard's approval for eliminating the concrete swale. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding this matter.
