Acceptance Test Criteria For Smoke Removal System
The acceptance test of the smoke removal system will confirm proper system activation and
operation. This is accomplished through a combination of visual inspection of smoke removal
system components and testing of the system operation to design parameters.
The following inspections and tests will be made for proper confirmation:
A. Visual Inspection
A visual inspection of all working components of the smoke removal system will be
conducted. Nameplate data and other pertinent information will be gathered and
compared to the approved design. Any deviations from the original design will be noted
and explained in detail.
B. Activation of System
The smoke removal system will be activated to test all appropriate smoke removal
system components.
The system will be activated manually through the use of the fire fighters control panel.
In addition, the applicable smoke control equipment will be checked to verify proper
operation.
C. Fans
Fans will be visually examined for proper rotation. Measurement of voltage, amperage,
revolutions per minute, belt tension, and flow rate of fans will be performed by a certified
test and balance company. Flow rate of fans are to be made with all perimeter doors
closed except designated make -up air doors.
D. Emergency Power
A test will be conducted simulating the loss of primary power to the smoke removal
system. R will be confirmed that the system can run under full emergency power for a
minimum of 20 minutes and transfer to full standby power will occur within 60 seconds of
failure of primary power.
E. Report
Schirmer Engineering Corporation will prepare a complete smoke removal report of
testing. The report will include identification of all devices by manufacturer nameplate
data, design values, measured values and identification tag or mark.
