4. All doors with controls and hardware shall be of the type providing accessibility to
® persons with disabilities [Section 1109.3]. Hardware on doors shall be lever or
other shape not requiring tight grasping, pinching, or twisting to operate. Controls
shall require a force no greater than 5 pounds—force to activate [Section .1109.3].
5. Doors accessible for persons with disabilities shall have an 18° wide maneuvering
space adjacent to the latch side of the door [Section 1109.9.3, Table 11 E].
6. The environmental control (thermostat) and lighting controls shall not be located
more than 54° above finish floor for accessible side reach approach or 44° for
forward approach [Section 1109.2.3.6].

Exterior wall construction on the south and east walls shall have a one -hour, fire -
resistive rating [OSSC, Table 5 -A].

2: The elevator shaft shall have a fire - resistive rating of one -hour [OSSC, Table

. Provide exit illumination having an intensity of not less than 1 foot candle at floor
level, and provide a separate power source, such as an on -site generator or

6. If using locking hardware on main entrance, provide a sign on main entrance

thickness, or may be of noncombustible materials [OSSC, Section 606.4.3].
8. Provide Type 2 -A fire extinguishers throughout so that the travel distance to a unit
does not exceed 75 feet [NFPA 10 3.2.1].
9. Glazing, in fixed or operable panels, adjacent to a door where the nearest exposed
edge of the glazing is within a 24° arc of either vertical edge of the door in a closed
position and where the bottom exposed edge of the glazing is Tess than 60" above
the walking surface, shall be tempered [2406.4(6)].
10. A permit issued by the State of Oregon, Building Codes Division, is required for
installation and operation of an elevator. Provide evidence of application for
permits.

Drawing #6 - Section 1 -6: Provide shear transfer with a row of flat blocks, use 4” nails,

t 4. Enclosed roof rafter spaces formed where ceilings are applied directly to the
underside of roof rafters shall have cross ventilation of each separate space.
Provide roof vents and cross ventilation of each rafter space [Section 1505.3].
5. Toilet rooms shall be provided with openable exterior windows or a mechanically
operated exhaust system capable of providing a complete change of air every 15
minutes [Section 1202.2.1].
6. The suspended acoustical ceiling system shall be anchored to resist lateral
seismic forces [Section 1630.2 and Table 16Q]. Provide suspension wires not
smaller than No. 12 gauge spaced at 4' on center, perimeter wires on terminal
ends of cross and main runners at a maximum of 8" from each wall, four No. 12
gauge wires splayed 90 degrees from each other at an angle not exceeding 45
degrees from the plane of the ceiling with a strut centered and extending to the
structural members supporting the floor or roof above and spaced 12' on center
in both directions starting 6' from each wall. All lighting fixtures weighing less
than 56 lbs. shall be positively attached to the suspended ceiling system [ASTM
C635 -94]. When using an intermediate grade system, No. 12 gauge wires shall
be attached to the grid members within 3" of each comer of the fixtures, and
lighting fixtures weighing less than 56 lbs. shall have two No. 12 slack wires
connected from the fixture to the structure above. Ceiling mounted air terminals
or services weighing less than 20 lbs. shall be positively attached to ceiling
runners. Provide an illustration.
7. Toilet room floors shall have a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent surface which
extends upward onto the walls at least 5 inches [OSSC, Section 807.1.2].
8. Underfloor ventilation is required for all underfloor areas. Size of venting shall be
computed on 1/150 of the underfloor area [Section 2317.7].

9. Provide weep holes 24° on center and at or slightly above grade in all brick
veneer.
10. Roof overflow drains and scuppers shall be designed in accordance with OSSC,
Section 1506.3.
MECI A'NICAL
1. The heat/ventilation system shall provide outside air per occupant in all portions
of the building [UBC Section 1202.2.1 and Table 12 -P].
A. Provide outside air specifications on the revised plans.
2. Each individual roof- mounted HVAC shall be permanently labeled as to the areas
it serves [OMSC, Section 304.5]. In addition, each unit shall be equipped with a
power disconnect and a 120 -volt receptacle shall be located within 25' of each
unit [UMC, Section 309.1].
