The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC)
2004 edition; and the Oregon Fire Code 2004 edition. The submitted plans are approved
subject to the following.
General requirements .
A key box for building access may be required. Please contact the local Fire Marshal's Office
for an order form and instructions regarding installation and placement. (OFC 506)
1. Upon completion of the installation, a satisfactory test of the entire system shall be
made in the presence of the Fire Chief. All functions of the system or alteration shall be
tested. 901.5 OSSC
2. The permittee shall provide written certification to the Fire Chief that the system has
. been installed in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. A copy of the
completed form shall be maintained on the premises and made available to the Fire
Chief 901.2.1 OFC
3. Connections to the light and power service shall be on a dedicated branch circuit. The
circuit and connections shall be mechanically protected. The circuit disconnecting
means shall be accessible only to authorized personnel and shall be clearly and
permanently marked FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT CONTROL. 907.5 OFC
4. Manual Fire Alarm activation devices shall be mounted in the following reach ranges if
installed:
• Forward Reach - 15 inches to 48 inches above the floor. 1109.2.3.5 OSSC
• Side Reach — 9 inches to 54 inches above the floor. 1109.2.3.6 OSSC

5. Visuals (Section 1109.14 OSSC)
1. Visual signal appliances shall be provided in the building in each of the following
areas:
• Restrooms and any other general use area (e.g., meeting rooms, classrooms, etc.)
• Hallways/Corridors
• Lobbies
• Common use areas
2. Visual alarms shall be located not less than 80 inches and not more than 96 inches
above the floor level. When a low ceiling exists, the visual alarm shall be mounted at
least 6 inches below the ceiling.
3. No place in a room shall be more than 50 feet from a visual signal.
4. In large rooms exceeding 100 feet across and without obstructions 6 feet or more
above the floor, devices may be placed around the perimeter spaced at a maximum of
100 feet apart.
Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall
be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors
throughout all phases of construction. 106.3.1 OSSC
Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new
buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road
fronting the property.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of
Tigard in tracking and processing the documents.
