The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. General requirements 1. A key box shall be installed within 20 feet of the main entrance. The bottom of the key box shall be not less than 8 feet nor more than 10 feet above the walking surface unless approved by the Fire Chief. Section 506 OFC 2. Upon completion of the installation, fire detection and alarm systems shall be subject to acceptance tests as contained in the installation standards and as approved by the Building Official. The City of Tigard, Building Inspector shall be notified before any required acceptance testing. It shall be unlawful to occupy any portion of the building until the detection and alarm systems have been tested. Section 901.5 OFC 3. Connections to the light and power service shall be on a dedicated branch circuit. The circuit and connections shall be mechanically protected. The circuit disconnecting means shall have a red marking, shall be accessible only to authorized personnel, and shall be identified as "FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT ". Section 4.4.1.4.2.2 NFPA 72. Manual Devices Not required if alarms are activated by sprinkler flow. Visual Devices (Section 1109.14 OSSC) 4. Visual signal appliances shall be provided in the building in each of the following areas: • Restrooms and any other general use area (e.g., meeting rooms) • Hallways • Lobbies • Common use areas. When a low ceiling exists, the visual alarm shall be mounted at least 6 inches below the ceiling. 6. Visual alarms shall have a minimum candela rating of 75 candelas. 7. No place in a room shall be more than 50 feet from a visual signal. 8. No place in a common corridors or hallways shall be more than 50 feet from a visual signal. 9. In large rooms exceeding 100 feet across and without obstructions 6 feet or more above the floor, devices may be placed around the perimeter spaced at a maximum of 100 feet apart. Approved Plans: 1 set of approved plans, bearing the City of Tigard approval stamp, shall be maintained on the jobsite. The plans shall be available to the Building Division inspectors throughout all phases of construction. 106.4.2 OSSC Premises Identification: Approved numbers or addresses shall be provided for all new buildings in such a position as to be plainly visible and legible from the street or road fronting the property. When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the enclosed City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal.
