The submitted plans are approved subject to the following. General requirements Inspector shall verify that installation is complete and system is in compliance with NFPA 14 and contractor shall provide a record of completion at time of inspection. This system is a Non - required, non - complying, partial installation at this time. Manual Standpipe Systems. Where a manual standpipe system is provided, each hose connection shall be provided with a conspicuous sign that reads "MANUAL STANDPIPE FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT USE ONLY." NFPA 14 5.4.2 1) Standpipe system piping shall be protected from mechanical damage. NFPA 14 6.1.2.1* 2) To minimize or prevent pipe breakage where subject to earthquakes, standpipe systems shall be protected in accordance with NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. NFPA 14 6.1.2.5 3) All valves shall be plainly marked to indicate the service that they control. NFPA 14 6.3.6.1.2.1 4) Where the standpipes are supplied from a yard main or header in another building, the connection shall be provided with a listed indicating -type valve located outside at a safe distance from the building or at the header. NFPA 14 6.3.6.2* 5) A listed check valve shall be installed in each fire department connection and located as near as practicable to the point where it joins the system.. NFPA 14 6.4.5.1.1 7) Fire department connections shall be located not more than 100 ft (30.5 m) from the nearest fire hydrant connected to an approved water supply.
