THE FOLLONNNG WAS NOTED:
As requested, arrived on-site this afternoon to meet with the builder and check the
condition of the exposed foundation bearing surfaces for the proposed new office building.
observations made at this timr revealed that the exposed foundation bearing surfaces
consisted of stiff native clayey silt soils of suitable bearing. However, some basalt
r c boulders were observed near the NE corner of the pad within the perimeter footing
lines. Foundation contractor stated that the footing could still be fanned to the approved
plans dimensions with all required steel even with the rock exposed. As such, found no
reason the jackhammer the basalt from the grade as adequate bearing support was present.
Contractor plans to pour'footings later this week. Following footing and wall construction,
structural fills will be placed and compacted for support of the concrete floor slabs.
