Subject: 12323 SW 66th Roof Repair (permit no. BU2010- 00121)
Hi Dan,
This email is in regard to the roof repair at 12323 SW 66 (permit no. BU2010- 00121). The roof repair involves sistering
up new joists to existing broken joists. Several of these joists are currently supporting an existing mechanical unit
(weighing around 400 lbs.) that is to remain on the roof. Per our phone discussion you are looking only for information on
how the curb will be attached to the structure after the new joists are installed. Also per our phone discussion you
informed me that you would not require calculations for the unit curb attachment and that an email outlining the
attachments that will be provided was adequate. Please let me know if any of what I stated is incorrect or if you need
information beyond this, thank you.
The existing unit curb shall be attached to the roof structure as follows:
Provide minimum 4x4 DF #2 header blocking under all unsupported edges of the unit curb. Hang the blocking at each end
with Simpson LUS44 hangers. Attach the unit curb to the blocking and joists with #10 screws @ 1' -0" o/c around the curb
perimeter. Screws are to have 1 W' minimum penetration into the blocking or joists.
