The plan review was performed under the State of Oregon Structural Specialty Code
(OSSC) 2007 edition; National Fire Protection Association, Standard 13 (NFPA 13)
2007 edition and the State of Oregon Fire Code (OFC) 2007edition.
1. Provide sprinklers in stairways as per combustible construction sec. 8.15.3.1
NFPA13.
2. Provide sprinklers in elevator hoistways as per 8.15.5 NFPA13.
3. Please show bracing for 4" pipe on first floor.
4. Provide standpipes as per sec. 905 OSSC.
5. Please have the design professional in responsible charge stamp and sign the
plans for compatibility with the design of the building.
6. Provide cut sheets for piping material and pipe installation.
When responding, provide an itemized letter stating in what way each numbered
issue has been addressed in the revision.
When submitting revised drawings or additional information, please attach a copy of the
City of Tigard, Letter of Transmittal. The letter of transmittal assists the City of Tigard
in tracking and processing the documents.

SUBJ: Fire Sprinkler System Review Letter
Dan,
Please find below responses to all items addressed on your review letter dated 6/17/10. City of Tigard
comments are in bold, WSFP response follows.
1. Provide sprinklers in stairways as per combustible construction sec. 8.15.3.1 NFPA 13.
• Sprinklers have been added to stairways. Please see revised sheets FP -1 and FP -2.
2. Provide sprinklers in elevator hoistways as per 8.15.5 NFPA 13.
• Sprinklers have been added to the top and bottom of the elevator shaft. Please see revised
sheets FP -1 and FP -2.
3. Please show bracing for 4" pipe on first floor.
• Bracing has been added for the 4" bulk feed on the first floor. Please see revised sheet FP -1.
4. Please provide standpipes per 905 OSSC.
• Per our conversations and the architect's revisions, the lowest level of fire department access is
now designed as less than 30' -0 ". This eliminates the requirement for standpipes per OSSC.
5. Please have the design professional in responsible charge stamp and sign the plans for
compatibility with the design of the building.
• Please see revised sheets FP -1 and FP -2 which now include the architect's stamp and signature.
6. Provide cut sheets for piping material and pipe installation.
• Pipe and fittings in the apartments will be CPVC; please see attached cut sheet. Piping in the dry
system attic will be standard Sch. 10 and Sch. 40 black steel pipe with cast iron threaded and
Victaulic grooved fittings. Please see attached cut sheet for Victaulic fittings.
