Re: Alternative Crawl Space Ventilation for Gabriel Woods subdivision ` GE i~7 hx
iv"A R
Attn: Mark Y 0 i: rk-jA, tFJ
Due to the foundation vent limitations on the interior units here at Gabriel Woods not allowing
us to provide the adequate amount of crawl venting we have had Roth Heating and Cooling provide
Humidistat fans for these crawl spaces. By using a 6" 150 CFM placed in the crawl with 6" ducting
running from the foundation vents in the back to the front crawl space, this 150 CFM fan will replace
the 1950 Cubic feet of air space 4.6 times an hour and will be able to pull air from all areas of the crawl
space. The fan is also wired with a humidistat sensor that will gauge the humidity of the crawl space
and function as needed. We have also provided the fan with a troubleshooting line that runs to the ga-
rage where a red sensor light will turn on if ever needed to indicate that the fan is not functioning prop-
erly.

chanical Ventilation:

Re: Gabnel.Woods
SW #22
Dear Sirs,
1 have reviewed the design criteria for the above named project with regards to the
change in SW # 22. Enclosed are the new calculations for SW # 22.
SW # 22 is 12.33 ft. long. The force on this wall is 2,132 lb making the shear
(force/length) 173 plf (pounds per lineal foot) and having a hold-down requirement of
only 185 lbs. Under these conditions it was within the parameters to use drywall (on
both sides of the wall) with 6d nailing @ 4" / 8" O.C. on the edges and in the field
respectively, with only 16d nails @ 12" O.C. in the bottom plate to hold down the wall.
Due to the fact that the drywall was not installed as per requirement, there are two
options that would not require shortening the shear-wall. (Shortening the shear-wall
would then significantly change the shear value and the hold-down requirement)
The first option would be to sheet both sides of the bathroom/laundry room wall with one
layer of 1/z" drywall and one side of the roaster closet with 2 layers of %2" drywall. The
bathroom/laundry room uses 6d nails with 4" and 8" spacing at the edge and field
respectively. The master closet, however requires 7d nails at the same (4" and 8")
spacing.
The second option would require one side of the wall (on the laundry room/ master closet
side- ;full length) to be sheeted with 7/16" O.S.B. This would be nailed with 8d nails at
6" and 12" spacing on the edge and in the field respectively.
If you have any questions please feel free in calling me. N~ i N SSA
Thank X

HEATING & COOLING
Ventilation for any unit with inadequate ventilation
Roth Heating and Cooling will install a 200 CFM fan which will ventilate the crawl
space.
The crawl space is approximately 1,100 cubic ft. divided by 200 cubic feet per minute.
This fan will change the air out 10 times an hour.
