,L ..- WHEREAS, the Tigard community mourns the passing of Jim Corliss, a respected business .° ,•-.1 �;
' i,1 leader, philanthropist, and friend whose life and work left an enduring mark on our city; and r' •-
` WHEREAS, Jim was born in Tacoma, Washington, and after graduating from Curtis High School, • ,
11 '.::.._,.: earned his degree from Washington State University, where he was a proud member of the Kappa R:_._,.. >,

ti WHEREAS, following his service as an officer in the U.S. Army at Fort Meade, Maryland, Jim ;t ,..'`
':► = began a distinguished career in the automotive industry with Ford Motor Company in Seattle, ` ;.c.,•
`,' ultimately founding Landmark Ford in Tigard, Oregon, in 1979; and ta'
TT` WHEREAS, Jim built Landmark Ford not only into a successful enterprise, but into a trusted 1 ,-
;T ~-* community institution—under his leadership, the business was named the 2017 Tigard Chamber -�i :
Business of the Year in recognition of its deep local contributions; and l °,,.

,,N WHEREAS, Jim's philanthropic heart and civic spirit were evident in his quiet yet powerful support A .,\ ,
i of the community—through Landmark Ford's generous contributions to schools, youth sports, the r '.., ;
€4;* Tigard Police Department, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue's SKID program, and many other , ,-
organizations—reflecting his belief in working behind the scenes to make our city stronger; and •• '' ..
