After that, there were sack lunches, and then people broke off into the YAC groups in the auditorium. Icebreakers, random groups to talk about our YACS + struggles. Oregon City YAC people talked about how they have boards even with small YACS (1 person in a board, etc) Council: Going really well. City manager is retiring + we have an interim city manager. Recap of MLK weekend: Rosebud: Really good turnout, extra blankets that were brought in were really helpful, everybody was super engaged, way more people than expected, groups that were formed were good at teamwork, really collaborative, all-hands-on-deck event Rosethorn: devote more time to activity structure, template was a little hard to understand (at first), explain instructions better (maybe spend more time in TYAC meeting to prep), more scissors!! more fabric!! (more supplies in general, really popular!), next year add a section to the sign-up for kids being brought, maybe cut the 5-inch squares at the corners during prep so that people aren’t as confused Publicity: do more marketing, Tigard is a close-knit community, people don’t know our name though, how can we get our name out there to the community? Maybe do more summer activities Recruitment: brainstorm workshop at the end of the year (?) Civic Engagement Fair: Shriya + Ayla, some confusion on if it was happening or not, made and advertised TYAC with a big poster, drawing station, positive engagement Black History Month event with food, music (Portland rapper Cool Nutz + Jonny Cool), shopping, games 3-6pm TYAC members can’t drive themselves to city events, have parents or Alex drive Next Monday: Hillsboro YAC visit (meet from 5-7 pm) on Feb 11th (Tuesday) @ Hillsboro Brookwood Library 1st hour they do subcommittee debriefs (committee presentations (about 5 minutes) and we will present our own about TYAC + events we’ve done (hopefully everyone can speak) By Tuesday Morning let Alex know if you are interested in being driven to HBL Meet at City Hall at 4:15 pm Everyone meet in the lobby until everyone is there Madi will send out a reminder email with all info Email Addresses for Members: (Madi has these) No TYAC on the 17th March 3rd is our next meeting (2 hours long) 5-7pm Tualatin YAC with be there to sit in (probably from 6-7pm) Mental health event, what have they been up to, what their plans are for NLC later that week, If I Were Mayor Contest TYAC please submit some video entries! (this is our only meeting between now and the deadline for If I Were Mayor (March 9th)) 7th-12th National League of Cities in D.C March 30th Mental Health event (Hillsboro + Tualatin are interested in helping/collabing) YouthLine does classroom/event presentations, they need to have 1 staff member, 90 minute talk, something else at the same time/after for parents Have some TYAC members show up Please show up at 1:30 to help set up/clean up last event Hold until 5pm Contact people/organizations for the Parent portion of the event (speaker, organization, etc) March 31st debrief session (more informal, shorter “meeting”) Once a flyer is made for the Mental Health event, it’ll be sent out and printed so we can advertise Word-of-mouth, advertising Get food for the event + split budget with library Tigard Merch (?) Lanyards, sweatshirts, pins, bows, something with our logo (just the trees, no words) (Chloe can ask her contact about merch) . We should fundraise! Bake sale (cookies, sugar cookies w/ decorating, collab with Scouts, sell at our schools. Apply for sponsorship funds from Walmart or Mod Pizza, Panda, Jamba, Chipotle, Beach Hut, etc Get donated food from Trader Joes (?) Wrap-Up! Bye! Concluded: 6pm
