In your revie,: of the :onstruction documents for Consoli-
datod Agencies, it was determined that our occupancy ek:--
I ceeded. Code for one exit. Ycur formula for arriving at
this number is as follows:
1. Office area (excludes lunch room - 1,937 sq.ft.
and storage room)
Divide by 100 sq.ft. /person
Occupancy Load - 20
� . Conference room area - 225 sq.ft.
Divide by 15 sq.ft. /person - 15
Total Occupant Load = 35
This, by Code, would require us to provide two exits from
the space. Upon reviewing the building and Consolidated
Agencies' office, it is obvious that we are unable to
provide this second exit. Our solution to lower our t,-,tal
occupancy is to post a sign in the conference room limit-
ing the total occupancy to 10. The revised total occupan-
cy thereafter. becomes 30.
In our telephone conversation of. February 3, 1983, you
approved the above condition. It is our intention to be
aware of this condition and plan accordingly in future
tenant spaces. Thank you for your cooperation in this

i1 A fire and life safety plan review was conducted on the above-
captioned project for compliance with the 1985 editions of the
Uniform Building Code (UBC) , Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC; , and the
Uniform Fire Code (UFC) as amended by Washington County Fire
District No. 1's Ordinance 86-1.
The plans are approved subject to the following:
1. Occupant Load: Where more than 30 people are located in
office space, two exits are required.
(UBC Table 33A)
Calculations of this space show that there is about 2000
square feet of office space, giving an occupant load of 20
people and 250 square feet of conference, giving an occupant
load of 15. The total occupant load of this area is 35
people. This office will accept the alternate method of
posting the conference room of an occupant load of 10 as
discussed with Deborah of Ward/Ossey/Gibbons provided a
letter is drafted stating that the tenant understands that
occupant load for the entire office area shall never exceed
30 with an occupant load of not greater than 10 in the
conference room. Thus, with the ten people in the conference
room the maximum occupant load of the rest of the office
shall not exceed 20 people. -his application is only to be
used in this i.nr;tance and, in `.he future, space design shall
accommodate two exits when there are 30 people as calculated
by square footage applications of Uriform Building Code Table
33A.
2. Fire Resistive Construction: As this is a type 2 fire -i
resistive building, all materials to be used in construction
of this office space shall be of non-condnistiole type
materials.

ing the stamps of the Tigard Building Department and this ;..

installation of all utility runs which will be concealed

5. Certificate of Occupancy Required: Prior to the use and
occupancy of the project space , a certificate of occu-
pancy or other written instrument of approval must be
obtained from the City of Tigard Building Department.
