Themes for the year – brainstorm
• Climate change

o Spot on Climate Task Force for youth?
• Houselessness/Hunger
o Ask new houselessness teammate to visit us in fall or winter
o Family Promise drive
o Dinner at GNC
o GNC Trunk or Treat
o Nightstrike—look into more
o Packed with Pride
• Mental health
o Doctor – violence prevention presentation (Madi connection)
o Nonconventional route; approach it more on an individual basis with students.
Anonymous methods of outreach?
o Stigma campaign and self-harming. Categorizing it in a more broad way
o Question & answer line/like what the Library does (Teen Library Council “Ask a Teen”)
o Educating parents about what to do if your kid wants to self-harm. Also don’t take it
personally – parents
o Immigrants and BIPOC-specific resources. Asking for help and cultural considerations
o Parent event? Respected expert addressing parents about what to watch for and how to
help their teens
o Approaching friends who need someone to talk to
o Fear that a student is just “looking for attention” when disclosing mental health issues
or self-harm to others—how to reach them?
• Connections to each department – have a person from TYAC connecting to each department in
order to learn more about the city functions?
