RESOLUTION NO.24-ao
A RESOLUTION THANKING RON ROYSE AND JOHN CHAMBERLAIN FOR 38 YEARS OF
SPECTACTULAR ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE TIGARD COMMUNITY BY PLANNING
AND HOSTING THE OLD-FASHIONED 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SHOW.
WHEREAS,Ron Royse and John Chamberlain have planned,promoted, coordinated,.and tirelessly
produced Tigard's Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration for nearly four decades; and
WHEREAS,in May 2024, these gentlemen each received the Tigard Chamber of Commerce's
Shining Stars "From the Heart"Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of their outstanding •
volunteerism for producing the community's Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Fireworks Show and
entertainment; and
WHEREAS,Ron and John have volunteered countless hours in creating an event that has become a
memorable, cherished, and signature special event for the entire community, even recording a
Talking Tigard Podcast with Kent Wyatt to talk about the event's entertainment, music&games to
be enjoyed by young and old alike;and
WHEREAS,when asked, Ron generously shared his time, knowledge,and experience in planning a
first-of-its-kind drone show for the community,illustrating his enduring commitment to bringing
together generations of Tigardians to celebrate the holiday in a cost-free, family-friendly atmosphere;
and
WHEREAS,in addition to Ron's long-standing commitment to volunteering, he owned Tigard
Music for over 45 years, creating strong bonds with the school district, teachers, parents, bands,
orchestras, and community members; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tigard is grateful to Ron and John for their long-standing care and
enthusiasm in creating a treasured Fourth of July tradition for the Tigard community.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that:
SECTION 1: The City of Tigard City Council and city teammates hereby commend Ron
Royse and John Chamberlain for their dedication and valuable contributions
to the.city.
SECTION 2: This resolution is effective immediately upon passage.
