At 6:32 p.m. Board Chair Ristau called the Tigard Public Library Board Meeting to order. B. Chair Ristau called the roll. C. Call to Board and Staff for Non-Agenda Items – Discuss whether the Board will meet in April. As the Library Board is only required to meet six times a year, they would be in compliance with the bylaws they decide not to meet in April. 2. PUBLIC COMMENT A. Follow-up to Previous Public Comment: None B. Public Comment – Written: None C. Public Comment – In Person: None D. Public Comment – Phone-in or Video: None 3. APPROVE MINUTES A. Board Chair Ristau moved to approve the Library Board minutes for the February 14, 2024 meeting. The motion was seconded by Hulett and Stoffel, and the motion passed unanimously. 4. ICEBREAKER Library Director Bernard asked everyone in attendance the icebreaker question: Spring is Springing! Let’s share something we love about springtime. DISCUSSION AND PREPARATION FOR JOINT CITY COUNCIL/LIBRARY BOARD MEETING Library board discussed presentation details for City Council meeting in April. 6. DIRECTOR’S REPORT Director Halsted noted that the meeting was over time and provided a truncated report. Staff update: we have hired two new on-call circ assistants, Brandon and Allison and we are hiring for the confidential executive assistant position. Notable patron service: All 903 appointments for AARP Tax Help were booked and 84 more have been booked and filled. Climate Action Team update: Last meeting, Board member Stoffel asked about climate action in Tigard and wanted to know how the library plans to take action. Adult Services Librarian Ann- Marie is the library representative to the city-wide Climate Action Team. There are many ways organizations can be more present in library. Climate Action Team handouts can go on the library slat wall, materials can be displayed in our display cases, and purchase suggestions for other materials can be added to our collection. Outreach: Bridge to home site. Families in transitional housing, signed people up for library cards, signed up for tech help. We’ll be going every few months. Another good thing to include. 7. NON-AGENDA ITEMS Chair Ristau moved to cancel the April Library Board Meeting. The motion was seconded by Coleman and Stoffel and the motion passed unanimously.
