DETERMINING METER SIZE FOR RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS
City of Tigard Water Service Area uses the American Water Works Association Manual and the Oregon
Plumbing Specialty Code to determine the size of meter needed to adequately serve buildings. Due to the
variety of home sizes built in the Tigard area, we count the fixture units of all homes to determine the
appropriate meter size.
Use the worksheet on Page 2 to calculate the current number of fixture units compared to the proposed
increased number of fixture units,which will determine whether an increased meter size will be required.
Submit this signed worksheet with your building or plumbing permit application submittal.
DOCUMENTATION
Once you are ready to purchase the new meter, please provide the following items to the Utility Billing
counter:
• Completed water meter fixture unit worksheet for additions, remodels,ADUs, etc.(on back page).
• Copy of building or plumbing permit application date-stamped by building division.
• Copy of issued building or plumbing permit.
Your fixture count will be verified and your request will be processed upon receipt of these documents.
No exceptions.
INSTALLATION TIME
Once the upgraded meter size has been purchased, most meters are installed within 10-14 business days.

In tees I see we charges for 1 kitchen sink and 2 lavatories, this cover the 3
sink/basin/lavatory that is on the plumbing permit application. The bathrooms are new.
the work scope description says new bathrooms. Please let me know if you have any
further duestions.

The way it should be in the ASP is the number of bathrooms that are new, We charge for
individual fixtures that may include additional bathrooms then really need to be careful
to adjust the scope of work to be clear as to what is happening. I apologize, I deleted the
3 bathrooms fee, I think I must have added it by mistake.

Good morning and happy Thursday Allyson!
I'm post-reviewing MST2023-00583 and have a few questions regarding the plumbing fees and whether or not the
CET fee is required.
The plumbing application shows that they are constructing (2) new full bathrooms, in fees I see SFR - Baths listed
as 3, then lavatories listed as 2, and then water closet - 2, should we be charging for all of these? My
understanding was that a SFR - Baths included water closet and lavatory? Regarding the CET fee, is it not being
charged because the valuation is right at$50,000?Also, because they are remodeling the basement into a
bedroom doesn't this technically mean that they are adding additional living space or does that not count since it's
already a residence and they're not adding any additional square footage intended for living space?
