Using a %"diameter steel probe I evaluated the consistency of the exposed subgrade. The subgrade consisted of brown silt and was covered in 2-3"of crushed rock.Probing indicated medium stiff to stiff subgrade" In wet weather we recommend placing crushed rock over exposed subgrade to protect from wet weather and foot traffic. If subgrade becomes disturbed due to wet weather and/or foot traffic,we recommend removing disturbed subgrade material and replacing with compacted crushed rock. Based on observations and probing, it is our opinion that lot 30, 141 and 143 subgrade observed on the lots today, indicated on the attached site plan, has been prepared in general accordance with the construction plans and our geotechnical recommendations. The lot features several bench cuts for footings for a daylight basement and/or embedded walls. I observed subgrade to consist of brown silt covered with 2-3- inches of crushed rock. Resistance to penetration by Yz"diameter steel foundation probe indicated generally medium stiff to stiff conditions. While on-site I observed minor sloughing of the bench sidewalls. We do not know if the sloughed material is located under building footings however we recommend removing any loose or sloughed material if located under footings. Based on observations, probing, and conversations with contractor,it is our opinion that the subgrade observed today, as indicated on the attached site plan, has been prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical recommendations provided the aforementioned recommendations are followed.
