Climate Change Conversation with Kenny Asher, Community Development Director:
Past apathy, ignorance, and lack of action from adults
Most emissions from Tigard are from burning natural gas for warming buildings and transportation
Food waste that isn’t composted emits greenhouse gases
Some schools are trying to install solar panels and others are trying to raise awareness
An impromptu poll shows that literally everyone thinks of climate change and nearly everyone is
worried about it
Climate change can feel too big to solve
Out of sight, out of mind
Because it isn’t talked about in the mainstream, climate change is often ignored
Youth know about climate change to an extent, but it always feels so big and confusing
Public pressure from individuals joining groups that join coalitions that join parties can fix this in the
future, it may not now, but it will
Email him for the opportunity or guidance to do more
Figure out where and who sustainable conversations about climate change and action can happen
Conversations about climate adaptation or extreme climate changes
Conversations with social justice groups about how climate change impacts impoverished communities
Conversations with people outside of typical climate change groups
