Here are some fun ways to make the most of our beautiful library building, which opened in August, 2004, thanks to the support of our community. Come in and claim your Summer Reading prize! Kids & teens get to choose a book to bring home, and adults can enter to win a big prize. Have your own lawn party with yard games from the Library of Things! Play badminton, bocce, croquet, disc golf, or our other games to make some end of summer memories. See the list of yard games, and place a hold on these popular items. Be a part of our puzzle party! If you're a fan of jigsaw puzzles, now's the time to refresh your stock for the months ahead. Drop off your gently-used puzzles August 1-8 at the Second Floor reference desk, and receive vouchers to get new-to-you puzzles on August 13. Get more details, and get ready to swap! Library Board Approves Statement of Support for Library Programs The Library Board met on Wednesday, July 19, and approved the following statement: The Tigard Public Library Board is proud to reiterate our support for the inclusive and equitable programming offered by the Tigard Public Library. We continue to believe that the Tigard Public Library should be an inclusive and welcoming space for all community members, and we are proud to protect and support the library's continuing work toward being a community hub for knowledge and enrichment where everyone feels welcome. What Will Your Next Library Adventure Be? From summer concerts and scavenger hunts to outdoor events and board games, there’s so much to be experienced at all 16 WCCLS libraries. All Ages EnTaiko Sunday, August 6 | 2-3 PM Burgess Community Room | All Ages This youth drumming and percussion ensemble carries on the centuries-old Japanese musical tradition combined with contemporary compositions and choreography presenting a high energy and dynamic performance. Program presented in partnership with Friends of the Tigard Library Kids Family Lotería Night Tuesday, August 8 | 5:30-7:30 PM Puett Room | Kids & Families Get ready for the return of Lotería to the Tigard Library! Have fun with the whole family playing this traditional Mexican bingo-like board game that has been enjoyed around the world for centuries. Come see what the fun is all about and maybe win a little prize! Teens Teen Improv Workshop Saturday, August 19 | 1-4 PM Burgess Community Room | Teens in grades 6-12 Find your voice and say YES in this improv workshop just for teens. Improv artist and teacher Andy Perkins of Curious Comedy theater will lead an afternoon of thrills and giggles. No experience required! Registration required. Program presented in partnership with the Friends of the Tigard Library. Adults Home Front Heroines Thursday, August 3 | 6-7 PM Burgess Community Room | Teens & Adults When men went off to war, women stepped from homes and offices into factories to make the ships, planes, and vehicles that enabled America to win World War II and become a postwar superpower. Using vivid images, author and historian Sig Unander tells the unforgettable story of this pivotal time in history. Program presented in partnership with Friends of the Tigard Library. We can also browse our shelves and select materials we think you might be interested in. Tell us what you like here, and we'll pull a stack of items, then check them out to you.
