On July 17th just before 3:30 AM a sergeant was proactively patrolling a parking area around a hotel in the 11700 block of SW 69th Avenue, where there have been recent car break ins. When the sergeant stopped a suspicious car with three people inside, the back passenger would not identify himself and encouraged the driver to drive away. After additional officers arrived, the back passenger eventually got out of the car. Officers found a loaded gun on his waistband, along with several tools commonly used to commit burglary. He was identified as Dylan Rhoads and officers learned he had five felony warrants out for his arrest. Officers also learned the gun on his waistband had been stolen from a car parked at the same hotel a week earlier. He was taken to jail on the warrants and additional charges of theft I, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of burglary tools. A second passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant and the driver was released. A judge signed a search warrant for the contents of Rhoads' backpack, which was executed today (7/20). Inside the backpack investigators found knives, shaved keys, bolt cutters, a wig, bandana, gloves, a driver's license that is believed to be stolen and other items. We'd like to remind people to please remove everything valuable from your car at night to make it less of a target, including guns. ### Page 1 of 1
