4 WHEREAS,Tigard is a community that includes and values its Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, `r
Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, and Two-Spirit individuals; and .'

WHEREAS, Tigard's LGBTQIA+ community is a diverse and essential part of our city whose a
members contribute to the widespread academic, economic, artistic, political, and social is R
spheres within and around the Tigard community; and is
WHEREAS, Pride Month in Tigard is meant to raise awareness of the prejudice and l'I`
discrimination still facing members of the queer community and honor their power and `j,
perseverance in fighting discrimination in all its forms; and i '

WHEREAS, community members whose gender identity or sexual orientation intersects with -;
race, ethnicity, ability, gender, or religion experience additional stigma and discrimination; and

WHEREAS, everyone is entitled to equal rights freely granted to all Americans inclusive of 11.
gender identity and sexual orientation; and '"
WHEREAS, our city will stand up to discriminatory actions and harmful speech; and is-:

a WHEREAS,the valuable contributions made by Tigard's LGBTQIA+ community promote
innovation and positive change with lasting effects within our city; and I
•' WHEREAS, in partnership with Tigard-Tualatin School District, the City of Tigard celebrates t
.4Pride with a community celebration and parade on June 10. The city acknowledges and affirms +_
queer love with waived Municipal Court fees for all LGBTQIA+wedding ceremonies performed
during the month of June.The city is committed to creating safe spaces for the community with I
Pride programs at the Tigard Public Library; l"'
