Subject: Remodel — 15760 SW Highland Road—Patio Cover
Structural Assessment of Framing Modifications
Job No.: 3216
Brad:
As you requested, we have assessed the changes that were made by your contractor to the framing of your
patio cover that is being constructed at 15760 SW Highland Road in Tigard, Oregon. We have reviewed the
current framing condition and the only item of structural significance that deviated from our original design
was the fact that the glulam cross beams were not bolted directly to the posts.
Based on my assessment of this current condition, I have determined that the existing framing is adequate if
the wall that is framed over the glulam beam on the house end is sheathed with 15/32" APA rated panels
attached with 8d nails at 12" on center in the panel field and 6" on center along all panel edges. Also, make
sure to install the Simpson H2.5 hurricane ties at each rafter end.
Please don't hesitate to call with any questions regarding this summary.
Sincerely,
