UPDATE: VEHICLE OF INTEREST IMPOUNDED IN DEADLY HIT/RUN
UPDATE #2 3/8/22: A vehicle of interest has been impounded in connection with this case.
It was located near the crash scene off of Hall Blvd. last night. The CART team (Washington
County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team) will be seeking search warrants to process it
for potential evidence. There is no suspect information at this time.
UPDATE #1 3/7/22: The woman who was killed in this crash has been identified as Karen
Kain, 57. Her mother remains in the hospital and is in stable condition.
ORIGINAL 3/5/22: The Tigard Police Department is investigating a deadly hit and run crash
that left one woman dead and another hurt.
On Friday, March 4t" at 8:40 PM officers responded to the
scene at SW Hall Blvd. and SW Lucille Court. Investigators
believe two pedestrians, an adult mother and daughter,
were crossing SW Hall Blvd. when they were hit by a driver
who left the scene.
The daughter, a 57-year-old woman, was pronounced
dead at the scene. Her 86-year-old mother was taken to
the hospital with serious injuries. Their names are not
Aphoto from the scene ofthe crash. being released at this time.
Investigators believe the suspect vehicle is a darker colored 2015-2016 Jeep Renegade. It
will have significant front-end damage. If you have information that may help in the
investigation, please call the non-emergency dispatch number at 503-629-0111 and ask to
speak to a Tigard officer.

The Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to the
scene. CART is a multi-agency team of specially trained law enforcement officers from the
Sheriff's Office, local police departments, and the Washington County District Attorney's
Office. The team investigates and reconstructs traffic crashes that may result in the
prosecution of felony assault or manslaughter charges. The team can also assist with
diagramming crime scenes.
We'd like to thank our partners on CART as well as representatives from the Washington
County Sheriff's Office, Sherwood Police, Tualatin Police, Beaverton Police and King City
Police for assisting with this investigation and/or handling our police calls at the time.
